Modern Slavery Statement
Responsibility of all businesses
Temp Labour acknowledges the responsibility of all businesses to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not present in their operations or supply chains. As an employment business and agency, we primarily source and supply staff for the industrial, transport, and commercial sectors.
Supply Chain
As a staffing provider, all temporary staff registering with Temp Labour for work are personally interviewed by our team. We inspect and photocopy their identification and right-to-work documentation. To maintain the integrity of our processes, we do not subcontract our labour supply.
Since workers and prospective employees are directly sourced by Temp Labour, our role in any supply chain is as a supplier. Any supplies to Temp Labour, such as office supplies, are incidental.
Our Policy on Slavery and Human Trafficking
We are committed to taking all reasonable steps to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking do not occur within our business. Our policies on tackling hidden labour exploitation and ethical trading reflect our commitment to integrity and effective systems and controls to identify potential risks related to modern slavery and human trafficking.
Due Diligence
-
Our contracts with clients reflect the principles of our ethical trading and hidden labour exploitation policies.
-
All prospective new workers are interviewed in person, with questions aimed at identifying any form of modern slavery.
-
We require workers to have their wages paid into a bank account in their name (individual or joint). We monitor for duplicate bank accounts and multiple uses of the same home address to investigate any concerns.
-
Staff responsible for recruiting and sourcing workers are trained and must adhere to a set of recruiter principles governing their recruitment methods.
-
Staff are encouraged to confidentially report any concerns related to modern slavery.
-
Temp Labour conducts audits to ensure compliance with all policies and practices. We are also subject to client and independent audits, including random worker selections, to detect any potential issues related to modern slavery.
-
Where we have supplier agreements for office supplies and sundries, we prefer to use trusted local companies with whom we have long-standing relationships.
Training
All workers joining Temp Labour to work on client sites receive an induction that includes information on sources of help if they or their colleagues/friends are concerned about modern slavery.
All employees at Temp Labour receive an induction that educates them about modern slavery and how to spot potential signs. Staff responsible for recruiting workers receive additional training on our code of practice.
Ongoing responsibility lies with named senior managers to ensure that training and understanding of modern slavery issues are kept up to date.
This statement is made pursuant to section 5(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes Temp Labour’s slavery and human trafficking statement.
